The Australian Security Industry Associated Limited (ASIAL) is the largest Association representing the security industry in Australia, representing almost 85 percent of the Australian security industry.
ASIAL was established in 1969 to support its members and to promote industry standards and ensure the interests of the public are safeguarded when they deal with members of all sectors of the security industry. It plays a vital role in developing Australian Standards to set out specifications and procedures that are designed to be followed by all industry members. These standards give members clear guidelines to ensure that provision of services is carried out in a safe and reliable manner and that any products perform in a safe and reliable way as they were intended to.
To provide a framework which allows for improved compliance with Commonwealth workplace laws by workplace participants, ASIAL has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO).
ASIAL also has links with the following State and Commonwealth legislation:
- Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009 – ASIAL is a registered organisation under this Act
- Australian Communications and Media Authority’s Cabling Provider Rules – ASIAL is an accredited cabling registrar
- Private Security Act 2004 (Victoria) – ASIAL is an approved security industry organisation under this Act.
A world-class conference is hosted on an annual basis by ASIAL, with local and international experts in the security industry coming together to share their knowledge and expertise with its members. The 2015 Security Exhibition and Conference will be held at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre from 15th to 17th July 2015.
